Pizza Week Day 1

Before I go grocery shopping for the week, I usually ask Nate what he would like to eat. His normal response, "pizza". Every week I get the same answer over and over. Apparently Nate never gets sick of eating pizza. He could eat it for breakfast, which he often does, lunch and dinner. A few weeks ago Nate suggested we eat pizza all week. At first was reluctant, I had a bad experience with pizza a few years back and didn't eat it for over a year. Now that I can actually stand it. I decided to go ahead with pizza for dinner every night this week.

Now this wont be just the average pepperoni or cheese pizza every night. I am determined to make something unusual but still remain within the realm of pizza. So to start the week off...

The Parisian

This recipe comes from "Saul Good" here in Lexington. I am sure it's in other restaurants too, by some other name, but this is where we found it. Super easy to make and super-super yummo!

Ingredients-

Pizza dough homemade, store bough or a thin store bought pizza crust.
About 6 oz. Ham cut up into bite size pieces
8 oz wheel (I only used about a little under 3/4 of the wheel) of brie cheese
1 Granny Smith Apple cut into bite size pieces
3 tbs Dijon mustard
2 tbs honey, plus a little drizzle later

Put your dough or crust on a pizza pan, mix the mustard and 2 tbs honey together and smear over the crust in a thin layer, load up you ham pieces. The brie comes with a protective coating, I cut mine off because it doesn't melt in with the cheese and I just don't like it. I cut each round side of the wheel off then the sides. Cut up the brie into thin slices (its a squishy cheese, so it doesn't slice well). Just slice it or chunk it and place it over the ham, it will melt. Put the pizza in a pre heated oven at 350. Cook for 15 minutes or so. I would check it, only because my oven is way off on cook times and I have to rotate my stuff to cook evenly.

Once the cheese is melted and a bit bubbly take out the pizza and top with apples. I have heard some people like to put the pizza back in for a few more minutes to get the apples a little softer. I like mine crispy so I don't put it back in. Take the bottle of honey and drizzle it over the pizza, however much or little you want.

And there ya have it, super delish pizza that you will crave for days.
